Recap about the most recent main footvolley event 2023
Recap about the most recent main footvolley event: last weekend, 30 teams from all over the world traveled to Eilat in the south of Israel to compete at the “Red Sea Footvolley World Cup”.
Next to many high quality teams from Israel, many European players were invited to the coast of the Red Sea, whereas the two teams from Brazil were undoubtedly the main attraction: Brisa/Sandrey, the most consistent and most successful male team at the moment, and the women’s superstar Natalia Guitler played alongside her partner Vanessa Tabarez.
It was little to no surprise that the couples from Brazil ended up winning the title at the “Red Sea World Cup Footvolley”, but the way both the male and female teams played, was immaculate and the crowd was loving the incredibly show the Brazilian athletes put on display.
The European vice-champions from Italy, Federico Iacopucci and Alain Faccini, managed to take home the second place in the male competition, while Israel’s Pascal Schmidt and Adiv Shavit won the bronze medal game against Maor Haas/Oren Tzuberry (ISR).
Natalia and Vanessa beat Marjorie Finguerman and Illy Levy (Israel) in the female final and were joined on the podium by Mor Shaked and ???TOM??? on the podium.
The Austrian delegation was made up by 2 male and one female team: after coming in first in their group, the men’s #1 team Jacky/Klemens lost against Dudu Tobi and Renan in the round of 16. Alex Peitler and Stephan Lutz (AUT 2) were able to pass the group stage with a well deserved win over Norway and had the honour to face Brazil in the round of 16.
The most successful Austrian team was the female team, made up by the two exceptional players Nina Steinbauer and Julia Rauch. Thanks to a very good performance mixed with a strong mentality and teamwork, they made it to the semifinals and ended up in fourth place.
All in all the event was a great experience and a blast for everyone who was present. It was once more fascinating to see how passionate the people in Israel are about footvolley and how everyone plays, watches and supports the most beautiful game of the world.
